If people would think of others before themselves the world would be a much better place. If people would default to doing the kind thing, we wouldn’t have so many of the problems we see today. Hunger, crime, war.. what place would these things have in a world where everyone put others first? What if we did the right thing instead of the profitable thing? What if we did the kind thing instead of going by the book. What if we saw both sides and did what we could to help each individual. We’d get so much back in return.

Standards sung by the greats, like Ella Fitsgerald, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday and Jo Stafford. It’s the kind of thing you can easily sing along to. The words are simple and sung clear and true. The music makes you want to get up and dance, or sometimes sit and remember.  I enjoy modern music too, but it almost always has some element of those old greats to it.

I do not enjoy any new music that is loud, brash, or has an attitude. I can not stand it when modern singers sound like their clenching their teeth the entire time,  I don’t like harsh sounds, and I don’t like whiners.

The furthest I’ve been from home is Nassau, in the Carribean. I went on a 3 day cruside with my family and that was our one excursion. Once I got there I didn’t want to get back on the boat! We started off with a tour of the city, we saw the nice areas, the poor areas and went to a lovely lookout.  We even did a little shopping. We visited the Atlantis resort, which was opulent, but fun in it’s own way. We ended up at the beach, which is where I really fell in love with the place. The water was so clear, so warm, I could have stayed for a very long time.

First of all I love the shopping experience there.  I love the samples. The people are always friendly and helpful. And there’s lots I would buy at Costco. I’d probably start by stocking up on groceries, and on basics like toilet paper and detergent. Costco is great for that. Their produce is good quality too. After that I might get some new camping gear and tools for my husband. Costco is a good place to get  excellent prices on basic clothing too. Depending on the store you can get some nice clothes. I’d finish up with the fun stuff – books, games and maybe a new gadget.

My favorite job has been working as a nanny. I’ve worked with children ages 1 – 10, boys and girls. There’s something very satisfying about caring for children. Helping them learn and watching them grow is a joy. I enjoyed coming up with projects for them, cooking fun things for them, taking them on outings, singing them to sleep. No two days are the same. It’s a lovely job.

I’ve wanted to go there ever since I was little. I love animals. I’ve enjoyed the people I’ve met from Kenya, South Africa and other countries. I would go on as many safaris as possible, see the Sahara and the Serengeti and the Sphinx. Walk where the Pharaohs walked, take a cruise down the canal. And I would want to take some time to experience life like an African – a very simple, uncomplicated life where friends and family are everything and everyone shares what little they have with everyone else.

I used to work on a paddle-steamer and the engine room as well as the galley were places in which fires could start easily. That’s why it was important to fire-proof as much of the equipment as possible. Of course, we also need all the necessary fire fighting gear on the paddle steamer. Just because we were going up and down on a river (i.e. surrounded by lots of water), this didn’t mean that we could just ignore the danger of fires. Safety always needed to come first because we needed to make sure that nothing would happen to our passengers.

Something most people don’t know is how I feel about running.  I’ve been running on and off, mostly on, for about 15 years.  I started running to lose weight.  It turns out that running may not be the most efficient way to lose weight (you need some weight training in there too as well as some concern about diet), but it also turns out that I like it and it’s become part of who I am.  I am a runner.  I run three to four times a week, only in the morning.  I occasionally train for races like San Francisco’s crazy Bay to Breakers.

Some people think they’re brown; others think they are green. The truth is they are both, a rather lovely green-brown.  My best characteristic would have to be my sense of humor.  I’m plenty serious, but I like to laugh and I’m quick with a joke.  I have a good vocabulary and enjoy wordplay, so no pun is too low.  See the title for proof.
